Guide

Make a wallpaper

Two ways in, one place to end up: the Workshop. Pick something close from the gallery, or describe what you want.

A gallery wallpaper: reference text on the left, icon bays where files will go. Customize in Workshop opens it in the Workshop as your own copy.

From the gallery

  1. Pick one in the Gallery and choose Customize in Workshop.
  2. Replace its text with yours — by hand, or with a prompt such as “swap the shortcuts for my Blender keys”.

From scratch, in your own words

  1. Open the Workshop and choose Create new.
  2. Describe the wallpaper: what it is for, what should be on it, the mood and colours. “A calm weekly planner for a gardener: a watering schedule on the left, three file bays for seeds, tools and photos, soft green and blue.” Use an optional example prompt for a starting point, then make it yours.
  3. Add your own notes if you have them — schedules, commands, phone numbers, reminders — and say whether every line must be kept exactly or may be summarised. The credit cost shows next to the prompt.
  4. Review the result. Keep it as your draft, or try another direction. Then refine with follow-up prompts: “make the background calmer”, “move the file bays to the right”, “swap the fonts”.

Size warning? Try a smaller reference, shorter notes or manual editing. New wallpaper JSON plus notes is limited to 160 KB (including prompts and references for AI). Model limits also apply; a small, focused edit may still work.

Then, for either

  1. Click anything on the wallpaper to edit it, or use the On this wallpaper list. Undo is always there, and the history menu names each step.
  2. Click the size button (1920 × 1080 to begin with) and pick your screen — HD, 4K, ultrawide, portrait, or This screen. Custom sizes, scaling and the dock are under the same menu.
  3. Choose Download. Use Download resolution for a sharper image with the same layout, then Download wallpaper PNG. Set it in your computer’s settings: Windows → Personalization → Background; macOS → System Settings → Wallpaper.

The wallpaper is a still image; the sample icons are not part of it.

Connect an agent

Everything above can be done by talking to your agent — creating from your notes, refreshing a table, fitting every monitor, sharing, and sorting your icons into the bays.

  1. Create a token under Account → Agent access. It is shown once.
  2. Add the MCP server to your agent — one command for Claude Code, a short JSON block for Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code and Claude Desktop. The Agents page has both, with the site address filled in.
  3. Ask. “Make me a wallpaper for my thesis from these notes, fitted to my two monitors.” The agent shows the balance, makes it, and hands you a link to download.
  4. For the parts that touch your computer — setting the wallpaper, moving icons — install the desktop-tidy skill. It reads the screen map, shows the plan, and moves nothing until you approve.

Routines (a Friday tidy, a weekly refresh) run in your agent’s scheduler, not here. Examples →

Write a wallpaper file

A wallpaper is one JSON file: text, layout, colours, graphics and icon spaces, with a title, description and tags. Anything — a person, an agent, a script — can write one.

  1. Read the schema and a complete example. The quickest start is Download → shareable layout JSON from any wallpaper in the Workshop and editing that.
  2. Open your file in the Workshop: Library → Open a wallpaper from a file, a link or text. It opens as a draft; layout notes show anything that does not fit.
  3. Keeping many? At the bottom of the Gallery, Load a collection from a repository reads a public GitHub repository in the collection format.

Building a collection with an agent? Give it the file instructions. Download a gallery wallpaper’s JSON for a worked example.

Save, share or remix

Drafts stay in your browser; Creator members also save to the library with revision history. Sharing makes a fixed public copy.

  1. Choose Share… in the toolbar (or Create sharing link… next to a generation in History). Accept the CC0 agreement. AI writes the description and picks search tags during review.
  2. A free account gets three unlisted links lasting 30 days, without gallery listing. Creator membership adds lasting links and optional gallery listing once the minimum backing is met. Clear automated checks open the link within a minute or so; flagged or uncertain designs wait for review.
  3. Generated wallpapers and cloud saves are under Account → History and Saved designs; shared links under Account → Your shared wallpapers, where a wallpaper can be withdrawn. Eligible, approved wallpapers appear in the gallery at its backing minimum (10 credits by default). Trial, subscription and purchased credits can back your own or someone else’s eligible wallpaper.
  4. For Git or paste sites, download the shareable layout JSON. It carries the description and tags, so it can be listed as it is. Reopen its raw link or paste it in Library.

Review visible text before sharing. Shared files leave out private notes and photos. The separate editable design copy includes private notes — keep that backup to yourself. Respect the original design’s licence when remixing; the gallery shows it on every wallpaper.
